Nader's Sun Halo

Image
Nader photographed this sun halo on a chilly morning this week. The optical phenomenon occurs when sunlight refracts and reflects through small ice crystals in the atmosphere. “You could see the frozen particles right there in front of you floating in the air,” he said. Sun halos aren’t likely to impact your business operations, but if frosty winter conditions do – give us a call!

New Ice Sensor Added to MicroServer

Image
Following a recent ice storm, Vermont Electric Power Company determined that a better picture of weather conditions was necessary at their key locations. Responding to the customer request, we have added a Freezing Rain Sensor for use with the Weather MicroServer. The sensor uses resonant frequencies to determine the presence of icing conditions. Included is a built-in heater for automatic defrost. The de-icing (heater) control is automatically triggered with accumulation of 0.5mm of ice on probe.
