Connect to Your Met Data with the Weather MicroServer

In our latest video, Alex Pulido gives an overview of how the Weather MicroServer works. With the ability to interface to any of our weather station models, this powerful communication device lets you access real-time met data from anywhere in the world. The Weather MicroServer is a data logger and powerful communication device compatible with all of our weather stations. It includes a web browser user interface that allows for configuration and displays the current weather readings. The Main Dashboard displays real-time data for the main meteorological parameters, including a wind direction dial with a 30-second standard deviation.  The Auxiliary Screen shows real-time data for additional sensors if connected such as solar radiation and visibility, as well as calculated parameters.  The Trend Screen shows a graph of one or two selected parameters for the current day.  The Latest Measurements tab displays real-time values of all available parameters. Weather MicroServer Update Notice

The latest release of the Weather MicroServer (version 2.8.10378 or later) includes new real-time monitoring screens. Updated to align more closely with WeatherMaster™ Software and the Cloud Weather Server™ , the Main Dashboard provides real-time data for the principal meteorological parameters, including a wind direction dial with a 30-second standard deviation for wind direction. This new feature was added based on customer feedback and integration with CAMEO/ALOHA for first responders. The Main Dashboard now features a 30-second standard deviation for wind direction. The Auxiliary screen provides real-time data for additional sensors such as Solar Radiation and Visibility, as well as calculated parameters such as Wet Bulb Temperature, Heat Index, Dew Point and Wind Chill. The Trend screen provides a trend graph of a selected parameter for the current day. Remote Weather and Air Quality Monitoring with Cellular Communication

The Cell Modem communication option with the Weather MicroServer provides a remote connection to the Internet, enabling functions such as real-time data viewing, downloading datalog files, and connection to a cloud server such as Weather Underground or the proprietary CWS Cloud Weather Server. It is used by local government agencies, landfills, and weather networks. For more details, check out the MicroServer page on our website and navigate to the “Communication” tab.

Updated MicroServer and Weather Display

We are updating these Real Time Monitoring interfaces. The new design is rolling out of production effective immediately. One update is the new wind direction pointer which clarifies where the wind is blowing from and points where the wind is blowing to. The design retains the dark background with bright lettering suitable for control room environments. A no-charge firmware upgrade is available for Weather Display consoles purchased since Version 2.4.9434, 04/24/2017. A no-charge firmware upgrade is available for Weather MicroServers purchased since 9/9/2015. Besides the new look, the MicroServer upgrade includes support for some of our newest sensors including the Pulsar 100 Doppler Radar Precipitation Monitor and the new Air Quality Monitors. New Ice Sensor Added to MicroServer

Following a recent ice storm, Vermont Electric Power Company determined that a better picture of weather conditions was necessary at their key locations. Responding to the customer request, we have added a Freezing Rain Sensor for use with the Weather MicroServer. The sensor uses resonant frequencies to determine the presence of icing conditions. Included is a built-in heater for automatic defrost. The de-icing (heater) control is automatically triggered with accumulation of 0.5mm of ice on probe. Weather Underground used for Hurricane Harvey Data

Last week we received a call from Air Liquide, an industrial gas production company, for help connecting their Orio­n Weather Station™ to Weather Underground® in anticipation of Hurricane Harvey. All CWS weather stations can feed data automatically from WeatherMaster ™ software or the Weather MicroServer ™ to Weather Underground, where the information is readily available online.
