Earth Science Week 2018 - Weather is Art

Weather-triggered music is played over dozens of speakers in the building.
“Earth as Inspiration” is the theme for this year’s Earth Science Week, organized by the American Geosciences Institute. We thought it would be a fitting time to highlight this unique customer application:

Portland-based musician Ethan Rose used a CWS Orion Weather Station to create an art installation based on current weather conditions for Microsoft’s building in Redmond, WA. Temperature, wind, precipitation and cloud cover data is transformed into musical sounds which play over dozens of speakers in the lobby.
An Orion Weather Station is mounted on the roof, measuring weather data to be converted into musical sounds.
