Data Centers can improve sustainability

“Growing demand for data center computing is becoming a pressing sustainability concern,” quotes this recent article* in HPAC Engineering. Projections cited in the article state that by 2030 information and communications technology (ICT) will account for up to 20% of global energy usage! “While demand is a major factor in energy consumption, higher outdoor temperatures can also play a role.”

While advancements in motors and controls can help mitigate increasing energy consumption, DCIM (data center infrastructure management) can employ real-time weather monitoring to improve operational efficiency, as well as plan for the future.
